In interpreting activities,the coherence of the target language is particularly important,which is an important discourse feature and affects the readers' understanding of the text.During the simulation of interpreting practice,extra attention should be paid to the coherence of the target language to make it readable and consistent with the knowledge level and cultural background of the audiences.This paper selects the documentary In Life for the Chinese-English simulated consecutive interpretation practice,analyzes the features of the corpus,and under the guidance of functional equivalence theory,proposes corresponding solutions according to the problems encountered in the practice,which to some extent enhances the coherence of the target language.The corpus selected is very spoken and mainly consists of dialogues.By analyzing the features of the text,it is found that some information is redundant,or omitted,the content is missing,the sentence structure is loose,and the logic lacks,which lead to the incoherence in the interpretation.Through case analysis,solutions of integrating content and condensing information,supplement information appropriately and adding connectives are proposed to make the context coherent and the links more natural and decent,thereby increasing the fluency and readability of the language and making it more consistent with the expression of the target language.Through the practice of Chinese-English simulated consecutive interpretation,this paper proposes corresponding solutions to the above problems to improve the coherence of the interpretation.It is hoped to have some reference for similar documentary interpretation practices in the future.
