| Shen Deqian is the mainstay of the literary circle in the Qing Emperor Qianlong period.He is a renowned poet as well as a prominent ancient prose theorist and critic.There are many academic studies about Shen Deqian treated as a poet.However there are little attention paid to Shen Deqian treated as an ancient prose theorist and critic.Tang and Song Dynasty Eight Text Reader compiled by him in the fifteenth year of Qianlong more concentratedly embodied his ancient prose theory and critical features.In the process of commenting on the ancient prose written by the eight great masters of the Tang and Song dynasties,Shen Deqian combined orthodox thoughts with literary theory viewpoint,admiring mellow ancient prose,and advocating new changes and inheritance in articles.It not only had a significant impact on the imperial examination scholars at that time,but at the same time,it also deeply influenced the Japanese literary circle when the selection was spread overseas.Therefore it became a bridge of cultural communication between China and Japan.This article is divided into four parts to carry out research on Shen Deqian’s "Tang and Song Dynasty Eight Text Reader ".The first chapter mainly discusses the compilation background,complication basis and creation of the " Tang and Song Dynasty Eight Text Reader During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty,a series of cultural measures were adopted to standardize the style of writing.A series of selected texts of Tang and Song dynasties emerged under the guidance of the concept of taking ancient prose as the eight-legged essay,which provided objective conditions for the birth of Shen Deqian’s " Tang and Song Dynasty Eight Text Reader ".Simultaneously,Shen’s anthology widely adopted the content of ancient prose criticisms by predecessors like Mao Kun,Chu Xin,etc and realized innovation on the basis of inheritance,adding to the life experience trapped in the imperial examinations for many years,and being very familiar with the theory of criticism.The birth of Shen Deqian’s " Tang and Song Dynasty Eight Text Reader " was provided with subjective conditions.The second chapter mainly explains the selection tendency of Shen Deqian’s comment on " Tang and Song Dynasty Eight Text Reader "-the mellow thought.Subject to his own identity and status,Shen Deqian expressed a clear orthodoxy concept in his comments on ancient prose.He upheld the principle of loyalty and filial piety,and advocated the way of learning that combined Ming Tao and Confucianism.At the same time,Shen Deqian emphasized elegance,highly respected implicit expressions,and advocated the simple and old style of ancient prose.The third chapter mainly focuses on the articles of the eight great masters of Tang and Song Dynasty selected and recorded by Shen Deqian,specifically explaining his advocacy of the new changes and inheritance in the article.On the one hand,Shen Deqian advocated innovation and required "self-reliance" and change its rules;on the other hand,Shen Deqian advocated learning from the past,and believed that only routinism could make creation.So it required new changes and innovations on the basis of inheriting the predecessors.Thus,he had a strong sense of Book of Songs and attached great importance to the rise and fall of the source.The fourth chapter mainly summarizes the significance and influence of the Shen’s ancient prose anthology about Tang and Song Eight Masters’ Articles.On the one hand,Shen Deqian’s "Tang and Song Dynasty Eight Text Reader" had a certain degree of influence on the Chinese prose theory.It summarized many methods of writing.At the same time,he put forward to the creative opinion of "talent,affection,nurturing,and qi";On the other hand,it brought shock to abroad,especially Japanese literary circle,and promoted cultural exchanges between China and Japan. |
