| This is a report based on an English-to-Chinese translation practice.The source text was excerpted from a report launched by the Platform for Better Oral Health--The State of Oral Health in Europe.The translation practice is expected to enrich domestic information resources related to European oral health and provide references for the development of oral health in China.Oriented by the text typology and Skopos Theory of translation functionalists,the paper expounds that the translator’s skopos dominate the outcome of translational activities,the skopos is closely related to the textual type,and the translator’s expectations of the target text are different in dealing with different text types.The author puts forward three skopos and expectations for the translation of informative texts: traceability,objectivity and coherence and readability.The report consists of five chapters: introducing the translation project and the translation report;analyzing the internal links between the skopos and the source text,explaining the skopos and expectation of the translation of informative text,and providing a theoretical guidance for translational activities and translation;describing the process of translation;cases study;and concluding the experience and the limitation of the translation practice and the translation report. |
