| With the accelerated development of globalization,Chinese enterprises are entering the world market to expand their market share and now have greater and greater influence on the world.As a bridge for enterprises to communicate with each other,enterprises’ publicity materials are conductive to the information exchange and cooperation between enterprises home and abroad.Quality translation of these publicity materials can not only bring the enterprises economic and social benefits,but also establish a good brand image for the enterprise.This translation report takes the publicity materials of the Chinese participating enterprises at the EU-CHINA Business and Technology Cooperation Fair XII as the source text,analyzes the difficulties encountered during the process of this translation project,and puts forward proper translation skills to improve the readability of those materials.The translation process of this project is completed under the guidance of Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory,which includes four aspects,namely the lexical equivalence,the syntactic equivalence,the textual equivalence,and the stylistic equivalence.Under this theory,the equivalence between two texts becomes much more important for translators than the literally rigid correspondence of them.In this report,the author focuses on analyzing the main difficulties encountered in the translation process,that is,four-character structure,non-subject sentence and long and complex sentences.In order to achieve the lexical equivalence,syntactic equivalence,textual equivalence and stylistic equivalence between the source text and the target text,the author adopts such translation skills as omission,annotation,amplification,division and reconstruction.As a result,the translated version is easy to be understood and more in line with the reading habits of target readers,which can promote further cooperation between China and EU.After the completion of the translation project,the author of this report draws the following conclusions.At first,it is necessary for translators to make sufficient preparations,including understanding the background information of the project and the clients’ needs,carrying out the glossary building and analyzing the source text before translation.Secondly,it is necessary and essential to apply proper translation theory as the theoretical guidance and effective translation skills in the process of translation.At last,this translation report may provide some corresponding references and have some guiding significance for the translation of enterprises’ publicity materials in the future translation work. |
