| As the cross-cultural communication of countries around the world has become increasingly frequent and extensive,the cultural integration of various ethnic groups is of particular importance.With the development of economic globalization and the promotion of the “Belt and Road Initiative”,China’s image around the world is becoming more and more vivid.Since many foreigners like to continue their studies or work in China,the splendid Chinese culture has been accepted and loved by more people around the world.Therefore,in different types of the interpreting process,culture-loaded words with Chinese characteristics will be translated into English,which will better show the charm of Chinese culture to foreign friends.How to complete the interpretation of these culture-loaded words in interpreting,to achieve the purpose of intercultural communication and to achieve bilingual conversion,has always been a difficult point for interpreters in the preparation and on-the-spot process.In this paper,the author’s liaison interpreting in the visit and exchange activities of the Living Research Institute in Chengdu,China,in April 2018,is regarded as the object of the research.The paper analyzes how to apply interpreting skills to deal with the source language under the guidance of Eco-translatology Theory,and then to find the differences between English and Chinese in a specific cultural context to fulfill the interpretation task.Under the guidance of Eco-translatology Theory,this report on liaison interpreting was accomplished.The core concept of Eco-translatology Theory is the “translator centeredness”(or: interpreters are the center of interpreting activities),which highlights the translator’s status and initiative in translation.This practice report also uses the concepts of “adaptation/selection” and “three-dimensional transformation” of Eco-translatology Theory to explore that translators should make a certain degree of choice for translation,and adapt to the selection and transformation from the three dimensions of language dimension,communicative dimension and cultural dimension in translation,so as to provide the appropriate translation text.This report combines theoretical analysis with examples from the process of interpretation to explore the implications of Eco-translatology studies for the interpretation of culture-loaded words,applying some translation methods such as literal translation,free translation,and addition to analyze the cases in interpreting.This report consists of introduction,four chapters and conclusion.In the first chapter,the background of the practice of interpreting in Chengdu Lacquerware Factory is introduced,and the activities,processes and participating guests are briefly introduced.The report is then launched around this interpreting task.The chapter of the interpreting process is mainly explained from the three parts of pre-translation preparation,theoretical application and difficulties encountered in the practice of interpretation.The third chapter of the interpretation example analysis is the main body of this report,describing how the interpreter applies the "adaptation/selection","three-dimensional transformation" as well as commonly used translation methods and skills to deal with the culture-load words in interpretation under the guidance of Eco-translatology Theory.The final chapter is the evaluation and reflection chapter of this report.Based on the performance and content of the recording,the author made reflection and evaluation of the practice from different perspectives.In addition,the feedback from the audience also provides implications which are helpful for improving future interpretation.This report combines theoretical guidance with case analysis to apply translation methods and skills to the interpretation of culture-loaded words in practice.Then the report explores how interpreters can make good use of "three-dimensional transformation" under the guidance of Eco-translatology Theory in the field of interpretation,thus conveying the source language in a timely and efficient way.It also aims at reflecting on the process of interpreting,summarizing the shortcomings,providing guidance for future translation practice,thus improving the accuracy of interpreting. |
