A Report On Translating THE AMBITION DECISIONS(Excerpts)

In China,feminism was introduced to Chinese in the early 20 th century under the influence of the Western feminist movement.However,most female audiences and many female communicators in China are obviously ’absent’ to feminism for various reasons:they do not have the struggle experience of large-scale feminist movements,their female consciousness,group concept and subjective spirit are weaker than Western women.Moreover,there are not many Chinese translations of feminist literature in China,and the quality of translations is also uneven.In the face of this problem,the author selects the PROLOGUE,INTRODUCTION and the first chapter of "THE AMBITION DECISIONS" :CAREER as the main translation practice content,and explores the characteristics and translation skills of feminist literary translation under the guidance of Skopos theory.This translation report mainly includes the Background of the Project,Objective and Significance of the Project,Overview of Feminist Literary Translation,Source Text Analysis,Translation Cases analysis,and Conclusions.Under the guidance of Skopos theory,the translation report focuses on the translation skills in English sexist words,adverbs ending with-ly,proper nouns,passive sentence,inverted sentence and the text through analyzing the source text with the characteristics of feminist literary translation.The source text of this translation practice report belongs to feminist literary category,and the text type is informative text,which has the purpose of enlightening the reader.Therefore,in the process of translation,the author must not only maximize the original content,preserve the language structure,but also consider the target language reader whose way of thinking and reading habits are logically adjusted.This report aims to explore the translation skills of feminist literature through translation practice,discuss the interoperability of Chinese and Western women’s literature and the practice and effect of cross-cultural communication,and hope that this report can also promote the research of feminist literary translation.
