Based on the translation practice of The Rough Guide to Las Vegas(excerpts), this translationreport aims to constantly sum up problems and the way to solve translation problems duringtranslation. Under the guidance of skopos theory, the author keeps cultural differences and languagedifferences between the East and the West in mind, and analyzes the characteristics of English travelguide according to the characteristics of Chinese travel guide. The experience and skills acquiredduring the translation process can play a reference role for the future translation of tourism texts.The translation report covers five parts: The first part describes the task selection, text source,and language features; The second part introduces the translation process, including the preparatorywork before translation, translation duration and revision stage; the third part analyzes the tourismtranslation under the guidance of the skopos theory; the fourth part aims to analyze the typicaltranslation problems encountered in translation, combining with modifications of my supervisor, theclassmates and my own, and try to solve the problems of lexical, syntactic and discourse levelthrough translation skills, including linear translation, reversing, devision and comprehensivemethod and translation strategies, including literal translation and free translation; The fifth partsummarizes the translation process and the author’s ideas on the translation. Combining theory withpractice, the paper summarizes the aspects that should be noted in the translation process of suchliterature, as well as corresponding skills and strategies for a better translation.
