Since the reform and opening up,China and the world have got more and more frequent exchanges and cooperation,in politics,economy,culture,tourism and other aspects.More foreign friends come to China,and the tourism has become an important cultural exchange activity.Therefore,liaison and escort interpretation has played as an important carrier in the tourism industry,which not only conveys the information of scenic spots,but also carries the responsibility of transmitting national culture.Indeed,compared with other forms of interpretation,the role of liaison interpreter faces more challenges in practice,for example,wider scope of application,more clients,more complex working environment and more diversified expectations.This paper is a comprehensive summary of the author’s practice as a liaison interpreter accompanying two foreign tourists from Sri Lanka and Indonesia to visit Jianchuan Museum.As Jianchuan Museum is a museum settlement and can’t be visited in a day,three representative pavilions are selected for case study.Based on the real cases in the process of practice,the author analyzes how Skopos theory and other specific interpretation skills,such as literal translation strategy,addition strategy,omission strategy,short term memory,note assistant strategy and paraphrase are applied in the process of practice.Through the summary of interpreting practice,the author also finds her own shortcomings,such as the lack of bilingual language ability and the limited cultural background knowledge,and the poor psychological quality in high-pressure working environment.Based on the above,this practice report also summarizes experience in the practice process and provides reference for future interpretation work. |
