A Practice Report On A Tour Escort Interpreting

This practice report is based on a tour escort interpretation and it described the writer’s interpretation work on August 16 to 17,2014. In the course of work, as an interpreter, the writer offered interpretation service to the expert group. The writer selected two typical parts from this interpretation work, and used them as cases to introduce and to analyze the process of interpreting. In the first chapter of this practice report, the writer simply introduces the task source of this escort interpretation, the content of this task and so on. In the second chapter,the writer describes the practice process in detail. In the third chapter, the writer mainly introduces the preparing work, it includes the material collection of background knowledge,the making of vocabulary list, the selection of translation strategies and the response to any emergency during the interpreting period. In the fourth chapter, the writer compares the source language with the target language and analyzes them. The writer also lists many cases to show how to response emergencies during the interpreting period and summarizes some coping skills which based on the translation theories. At last, the writer expounds the quality a interpreter should have and summarizes the coping skills under emergency circumstances.Being prepared for offering a high-quality interpretation service to customer.Through this interpreting task, the writer also summarized some interpreting skills:preparation of the related vocabulary, restructuring of Chinese sentence structure, giving free translation to these complex sentences, sentence combining, using translation strategies like transliteration、addition, omitting some meaningless statements.
