A Report On The Interpreting Of A Lecture Based On UMEER Framework

Nowadays,people can acquire knowledge and information from various lectures so that lectures play an important role on information spreads.In order to bring cutting-edge knowledge to students,and broaden their horizons,universities and colleges often invite foreign experts and scholars to give special lectures.Tianjin University of Finance and Economics actively invites well-known experts at home and abroad to conduct academic lectures for students.Therefore,the interpretation of academic lectures is particularly important.In order to fully cultivate talents,the foreign languages department encourages students to actively participate and become interpreters at the lectures.Communication bridge.This report is related to lecture translation.On October 30^thof 2019,I participated in a lecture named“How to Write a Successful Speech”,and served as a simultaneous interpreter.Part of the whole interpretation was chosen for specific analysis in this report.With the framework named UMEER framework of interpretation analysis put forward by Li Changshuan,a professor of Beijing Foreign Studies University,this practice was based on an authentic experience on the lecture.The difficulty of this practice is how to accurately predict and grasp the speaker’s logic in simultaneous interpretation,as well as make the best expression when information is too large or too concentrated.In this report,the author adopted the method of comparative research and descriptive method to analyze the problems of the practice.Through analyzing those examples on aspects of understanding,memory,expression and emergency response,the author found her shortcomings in this practice,and did the introspection and correction.For the good part of this practice,the author made a summary.The creative significance of this report is the application of the UMEER framework to this authentic interpretation practice.The author deeply understood the meaning of using skills in interpretation by analyzing examples and providing solutions.The examples in this report are all chosen from an interpretation practice of an authentic lecture so that it can provide some references and experience for the MTI students in the future.
