A Research On The Impact Of Guided Learning Plan Upon High School Students' Autonomous Learning Ability And English Grammar Learning Results

The new-round education reform and New Curriculum Standard stated definitely that we should optimize students-centred teaching and learning models,stressed students' active participation and experience and advocated to cultivate students' autonomous learning ability.On the other hand,the guided learning plan(GLP),a popular model for education reform,is being widely used in the classroom teaching and learning in many senior high schools.But some English teachers and scholars disagree with each other on whether the guided learning plan(GLP)could promote students' autonomous learning ability(AL)and whether this teaching assistant means could be beneficial to improve students' learning results.To prove that,from the aspect of English grammar teaching and learning,this thesis is to research the impact of the guided learning plan(GLP)upon students' autonomous learning ability and their learning results.This research is on the basis of the classroom teaching and learning practice,mainly to answer two research questions: 1).Can using the guided-learning plan promote students' autonomous learning ability in the Senior School? 2).Can using the guided-learning plan improve students' English grammar learning in the Senior School? For these two questions,the author applied the two classes from Feng Huo senior high school in the city of Baoji as subjects and spent 6 months in making an experiment whose instruments are questionnaires interview,and grammar tests.The former two instruments were used to testify research question 1 and the latter was used for research question 2.From the result and the data,the author made the following conclusions: 1.there is an obvious improvement on subjects' learning attitude and interest,learning plans,motivation,learning habit and strategy,which are 4 components of the autonomous learning ability(see the Diagram2-1).Also,in the interview most subjects thought highly of the guided learning plan(GLP).So it's easy to conclude that using the GLP improved students' autonomous learning.2.The results of comparison of the pre-tests and the post-tests on grammar indicated that the scores in the experiment class have improved much more than that in the control class,which means that using the GLP has improved the subjects' grammar learning results.All in all,using the guided learning plan(GLP)could improved the subjects' autonomous learning ability and English grammar learning results.So the GLP is one of the effective teaching and learning approaches with great practical significance.The above research results enlightened me the following about the GLP: on the one hand,GLP should be well-designed,discussed and perfected with the cooperation of other teachers.On the other hand,to use the GLP effectively,the teachers should train and instruct the users properly ahead of time.
