The conclusion section of the book The Research on Political Thought was selected as the object of the study, which belongs to political text and mainly introduces the importance of holding socialist core value system as dominant social ideological trend with totally 13,813 Chinese words.Political text is a kind of literary text that expounds and reviews social problems, which has a certain political tendency.C-E translation of political text is also indispensable in translation practice. It functions as an important window for Chinese theories and ideas to communicate with outside world, which gains great significance. Therefore, the Skopos Theory has been adopted as the guiding theory of translation. From the two perspectives of the source text comprehension and target text expression, the translator discusses the translation difficulties and related translation methods. The report is divided into five parts, the first part introduces the background and significance of the translation project;the second part explains the content and stylistic features of the source text;the third part describes the three stages of the translation process;in the fourth part, the Skopos Theory is described, and then the translation difficulties of political texts, such as political terminology,four-character words,culture-loaded words, long and complex sentences, and sentences without subjects are analyzed.Several translation methods such as free translation, division, voice conversion, sentence reorganization are described under the guidance of Skopos Theory;finally the author reviews and sums up the practice of translation and hopes the report to provide some reference value to the future translation of political text.
