| The material for this simulated interpreting is a dialogue about higher education at Rolston Conversations,a dialogue program of Rolston College.Its theme is “What’s the ‘Higher’ in Higher Education?”.The two parties in the dialogue discussed the existing problems,historical origins,solutions to problems and future development of higher education in western universities.This report analyzes and summarizes the problem of implicit information and its interpretation strategies.According to its sources,the implicit information is divided into three types,namely,the implicit information under the influence of context,the implicit information under the cultural background,and the implicit information under the influence of tones.For different types of implicit information,the interpreter conducts case studies from the perspective of vocabulary and discourse,and sums up the interpreting strategies for the implicit information such as addition,free translation and semantic extension.By analyzing the implicit information in the material and its coping strategies,this report attempts to provide some reference for interpreters to deal with implicit information problems,so as to improve the efficiency and quality of implicit information transmission in interpretation. |
