| The traditional Chinese culture has drawn great attention from people in these years since President Xi Jinping proposed “the Belt and Road” Initiative.Historical and cultural scenic spots,as a channel for people to learn about China,have attracted numerous foreign tourists.Chengdu Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum is a kind of historical and cultural tourism resource and its commentary has some special features,like serving a specific group of clients,inadequate cultural equivalence,and excessive poetic expression;therefore,it is difficult for interpreters to render the sense accurately.Given this,under the guidance of Interpretive Theory,the report studied the escort interpreting conducted at Chengdu Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum.Interpretive Theory proposed that a complete interpretation process is accomplished in three stages,including comprehension,deverbalisation,and reformulation.Choosing the triangular model proposed by the interpretive school as the theoretical framework,the author also divided the interpretation process into three stages,namely comprehension,deverbalisation,and reformulation.As an interpreter,the performance of the author in each stage would have a great impact on the overall quality of interpreting in the end.Through analyzing the problems,this report has proposed the following suggestions.First,interpreters should fully understand both the literal and implied meaning of the source language in comprehension.Meanwhile,to fully comprehend the sense,they should actively mobilize the cognitive knowledge in comprehension as well.Second,getting rid of the form of the source language,interpreters should grasp the discourse sense of the source language and restore the sense in a proper way in deverbalisation,such as sorting out the logical relation and distinguishing the primary information from the secondary information.Third,in reformulation,sense equivalence should be put first.Interpreters should attach great importance to cognitive and emotional equivalence. |
