severe.Population aging could not only have a major impact on the country’s political, economic, and social development, but also bring many challenges to families and individuals. To this end,the party and government proposed to implement a national strategy for active aging. However,at a practical level, how to actively respond to the challenges posed by an aging society, how to improve the quality of life of the elderly, improve the subjective well-being of the elderly, meet the needs of the elderly for a better life, and how to promote the implementation of the national strategy for active aging are the topics of common concern to society and topics worthy of in-depth discussion in the academic world. They are not only related to the prosperity, stability and sustainable development of the country’s society, but also closely related to the healthy development of elderly individuals and their satisfaction with their needs for a better life.It is a major issue that urgently needs to be resolved in the implementation of the active aging national strategy and the implementation of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. In reality, the yearning and satisfaction of the elderly for a better life is produced and realized in a certain life-space.Life-space refers to the range of movement of an individual within a certain period of time. The life-space of the elderly is a necessary condition for maintaining their daily activities and meeting their needs for a better life. The restricted life-space may lead to the consequences of the physical and mental health of the elderly. Therefore, this article aimed to explore the implementation path of the national strategy for active aging and the strategies to improve the needs of the elderly for a better life.By evaluating the current situation of the life-space of the elderly, exploring the relationship between it and the quality of life and subjective well-being,and putting forward the life-space optimization countermeasures that point to the needs of the elderly for a better life,so as to improve the quality of life and subjective well-being of the elderly. This article focused on the theme of life-space,based on the literature review, using empirical research methods to do the following research:.(1)Evaluated the overall current situation of the life-space of the elderly in China and the differences in the life-space of different groups of people through a large sample survey,so as to analyze the situation of the life-space of the elderly and explore the demographic influencing factors of the life-space of the elderly;(2)In order to understand the effect of life-space on the physical and mental health of the elderly, this study selected subjective well-being and quality of life as indicators from the perspective of positive psychology, and explored the relationship between the life-space of the elderly and the subjective well-being and quality of life to verify whether the life-space of the elderly will affect the subjective well-being and quality of life of the elderly as well as how much impact does it have;(3)Explored the intermediate mechanism between the life-space of the elderly and subjective well-being and quality of life,in order to reveal the relationship between life-space and subjective well-being and quality of life in depth. The conclusions drawn from the above research were as follows:(1)The life-space level of the elderly was at a medium level, and most of the elderly’s activity areas were in cities and towns.Generally speaking, the life-space of the elderly was significantly different in gender, age, education level, marital status, place of residence, and religious beliefs. The life-space level of male elderly, younger elderly, elderly with high educational level, the widowed and divorced elderly, the elderly with religious beliefs, and the urban elderly were relatively higher than that of the corresponding other types of elderly.(2)The life-space of the elderly was significantly correlated with subjective well-being and quality of life-space had an independent influence on changes in subjective well-being and quality of life. There were many factors influencing the subjective well-being and quality of life of the elderly, and life-space could explain approximately 7% of the variation in subjective well-being or quality of life.(3)The life-space of the elderly could not only directly predict the quality of life and subjective well-being,but also indirectly affected the quality of life and subjective well-being through social support and the sense of meaning of life.(4)In order to improve quality of life and subjective well-being f the elderly, measures could be taken to improve the life-space of the elderly from three aspects:their own level, family level as well as national and social level. | Keywords/Search Tags: | life-space, subjective well-being, quality of life, social support, meaning
