Study On Features Of Prerecorded Media Interpreting

Media interpreting refers to interpreting that is broadcast on television,radio or the Internet.It is mainly in the form of simultaneous and consecutive.With the development of news media technologies and interconnected global market,there arises a new type of media interpreting,prerecorded media interpreting.It is the oral rendition of an audiovisual product in the form of prerecorded interpreting.Most of the research on media interpreting focus on live interpreting simultaneously or consecutively which are usually adopted in live interviews and news broadcasts,but there are few studies on prerecorded media interpreting.In the thesis,the interpreter reported her experience of prerecorded media interpreting in a network technology company.Prerecorded media interpreting referred in the thesis is in the form of consecutive interpreting.The author did consecutive interpreting for prerecorded tutorial videos of computer graphics without translated scripts or subtitles.In the process she failed to find specific guidance in advance and encountered many difficulties.Based on her own experience,the author found five features of prerecorded media interpreting,and tried to define this new type of language service based on previous studies.She also proposed possible interpreting strategies to address relevant challenges.
