Explicit Research In Chinese And English Interpreting In Media

With the promotion of the Belt and Road Initiative,China exchanges ideas with foreign countries more frequently and the demand of consecutive interpreting service in media settings is also increasing.There are many difficult problems for interpreters because of differences between Chinese and English in Chinese to English consecutive interpreting in media settings,where explicitation strategy is widely used.Thus,explicitation strategy,as one of the many universals of translation or interpreting,is worthy of being studied.According to skopos theory,translational action is determined by its skopos.That is to say,translation or interpreting strategy is determined by its aim or purpose.The adoption of explicitation strategy is decided by its translation skopos.Therefore,skopos theory is of great significance to guide the adoption of explicitation strategy.In this thesis,with the guidance of skopos theory,target texts of consecutive interpreting in a typical media setting — interview interpreting — has been analyzed to discuss the way that explicitation strategy is employed by interpreters to achieve interpreting skopos,in expectation of providing reference for interpreting practice.
