This report elaborates on the interpreting practice done by the author for Fisher &Paykel. The interpreter performed two interpreting tasks for her employer on August 4,2020.The first task was a roadshow presentation at Vanke’s headquarter. And the second task was a retailer meeting in Futian,Shenzhen. This report is divided into five parts including task description,pre-task preparation, process and reflections, case analysis, and conclusion. The fourth part plays a crucial role in this report. In this part, the author introduces Skopos theory and its three main rules and analyzes the cases using relevant strategies. To be specific, the case analysis is carried out with the guidance of Skopos theory as well as the strategies of amplification, omission, paraphrasing, and conversion.Based on this, the author finds that Skopos theory can effectively guide interpreting practice especially the liaison interpreting tasks.Furthermore, the application of a certain skill will be affected by the speaker’s style, language habits, and the cultural background of the source language and target language users.Lastly, the author concludes some limitations of her report. It is hoped that this report may help those novice interpreters choose effective interpreting strategies and raise their awareness of the importance of language quality.
