A Liaison Interpreting Practice Report

Since the 1980 s,China has achieved great progress in its economy under the policy of reform and opening up.China has participated in increasing international affairs,especially in foreign business activities.The increase of Chinese and foreign business activities will definitely call for more business liaison interpreters.The environment that the interpreters are confronted with is complicated,so they might have great pressure in it.If they can not deal with problems occurring properly in the process of interpreting,they may not help their employers achieve success in cooperation.Therefore,it is necessary to adopt effective skills to complete the interpreting task.This thesis is based on a liaison interpreting practice related to procurement and technology of car parts,and it is conducted by the author in Huangpu Factory and Zengcheng Factory of Guangqi Honda Automobile Company.With regard to cases of the interpreting task,the author applies Skopos Theory and effective interpreting skills such as amplification,omission and paraphrase to carry out concrete analysis.The author also analyzes problems that happen in the practice.The author hopes that the report can provide some reference for interpreters who have been engaging in automobile interpreting within a short period of time.
