Research On The Influencing Factors And Formation Mechanism Of The City Identity Of Outlanders

Since the reform and opening up,my country’s urban,rural,and urban population flows have tended to be frequent,a large number of migrants have poured into cities,and urbanization has developed rapidly.While injecting vitality into the social and economic development of the city,the masses of outlanders are also facing a serious identity construction problem in the city.What factors will affect the sense of identity of outsiders to the city?What are the details or mechanisms of its identity construction?Today,when the concept of inclusiveness is promoted and the"people-oriented" new urbanization construction is emphasized,it is particularly important to discuss these issues.This article attempts to learn from the relevant research in the fields of geography,psychology and sociology,and study the influencing factors and formation mechanism of the urban identity of foreigners from both theoretical and empirical perspectives.First of all,in theoretical research,this paper draws on the internal working mode of attachment proposed by Bowlby and puts forward the concept of internal working mode of identity,which theoretically explores the development process of individual city(place)identity.On this basis,this article combines the implicit-explicit attitude theory to construct the implicit-explicit formation mechanism model of the city identity of outlanders;secondly,in the empirical research,this article introduces the SOR theory in the field of environmental psychology,through literature research and The theoretical reference selection includes "urban safety","urban comfort","autonomous support","competent experience","social quality","perception of self-respect","perception of social proximity","urban social identity"and Nine variables including "Urban Spatial Identity" construct an SOR research model and derive 13 hypotheses among the variables.Furthermore,this article has carried out the questionnaire design work,and carried out investigation and research with the Jinhua urban area of Zhejiang Province as an example.Finally,with the help of statistical software such as SPSS21.0 and Amos26.0,various research hypotheses were tested by constructing a structural equation model(SEM).The main research conclusions are as follows:(1)The concept of identity internal working mode can be used to explain the differences in the formation mechanism of city identity between locals and non-locals.The study found that the internal working model of adult individual identity has two levels,namely general identity representation and special identity representation.The essential difference between the formation mechanism of city identity between locals and non-locals is that the former is guided by general city identity representations,and the identity of the city is an implicit and unconscious state,while the latter’s city identity is guided by special city identity representations,and is Identity is an explicit,conscious state.Further research has found that the ideal model for the construction of city identity by outlanders is from the perception of urban locality to the construction of explicit urban local(local)identity,and then from the explicit city identity to the implicit city identity.(2)Empirical research shows that individual factors such as home purchase status,age,monthly income status,and length of residence of foreigners will affect their perception of city identity.Among the 13 hypotheses proposed in this article,only "urban safety→perceived self-respect" and "autonomous support→perceived self-respect" are not supported,and the remaining hypotheses are supported.From the hypothesis test results,the urban comfort,competency experience,and social quality in the urban environmental stimulus variable(S)all have a significant positive effect on the perception of self-esteem,and the social quality has a significant positive effect on the perception of social closeness;The self-respect perception and social proximity perception variables in the psychological variable(O)all have a significant positive impact on the urban social identity and urban spatial identity in the identity variable(R).The mediation effect test results show that a total of 12 mediation paths are supported.Among them,the mediation effect of the path "social quality→social proximity perception→urban social identity" is the strongest,and the mediation of the path "urban comfort→social proximity perception→urban space identity" The effect is the weakest.The study found that five urban environmental variables,including urban safety and urban comfort,have a significant impact on the construction of city identity for foreigners.Mechanism research shows that the construction path of city identity for foreigners is diverse.On the basis of summarizing the research conclusions,this article puts forward the corresponding urban management practice enlightenment,hoping to provide decision-making reference for the Jinhua Municipal Government or other cities.
