A Study On The Words Of Physical Action Words In The Naxi Dongba Sutra

Dongba script is a script used by Naxi religious people to write religious classics,and it is also a "living fossil" of primitive scripts.In recent years,with the continuous expansion of the research field of philology,more and more research results on Dongba script have been published,and the research methods and approaches of Dongba script have been innovated.At present,the research on Dongba script has gradually shifted from the dictionary to the literature,and the perspective has gradually been put on special studies.However,most of the relevant studies are limited to nouns,and there are few research results on action words.The Complete Annotation of Ancient Books of Naxi Dongba(100 volumes)contains a total of 897 volumes of Dongba classics,and the Naxi Dongba Scriptures Collected by Harvard Yenching Institute(4 volumes)contains more than 590 volumes of scriptures,which are valuable materials for the study of the Dongba script.This thesis uses the Complete Annotation of Ancient Books of Naxi Dongba(100 volumes)and the Naxi Dongba Scriptures Collected by Harvard Yenching Institute(4 volumes)as the materials,collects the words of physical action recorded in them exhaustively,and analyzes the words of physical actions in the Dongba Sutras from three aspects: language unit,recording method,and symbolic posture,on the basis of the existing studies.In addition to the appendix,the full text is divided into four parts:Chapter one,"Introduction".The first chapter explains the reason for the topic selection,research purpose and significance of this article.Then,we trace the history and status of research related to this thesis from four aspects: the collection and translation of Dongba literature,the study of Dongba language and script,the study of word usage,and the study of Dongba action words.The research ideas and research methods are also explained.Finally,the selection of research materials and objects of this paper is explained in detail.Chapter two,"Summary of the physical action words of the Dongba sutra”.This chapter first defines the criteria for judging physical action words in Dongba script,and classifies them according to the parts of the movements.Then combed the number of syllables and the different pronunciations of the physical action words in the scriptures,and phonetic and word formation characteristics of the physical action words are briefly analyzed.Chapter three," Study on the Language Units of the Dongba Sutra’s Physical Action Words Recording".This chapter first provides an overview of the relevant research on the recording language units of Dongba and reviews the existing research results.Then,it discusses the corresponding relationship between the words and language units of the words recorded in the scriptures from the two aspects of monosyllable physical action words and double syllable physical action words,and analyzes the reasons why there are no words in the physical action words.Then the statistics of the language unit records of body action words in the scriptures are made,and the characteristics of the language unit records of physical action words are briefly analyzed.Finally,the problems of translation and interpretation,homomorphism,and sharing of words related to body movements in the scriptures are discussed.Chapter four," Study on the Ways of Recording Methods and the Symbolic Body of Physical Actions in the Dongba Sutra".This chapter first gives an overview of the Dongba character structure and character recording methods.Then,on the basis of previous studies,the recording modes of physical action words are analyzed in detail by three categories: ideographic,epigraphic,combined ideographic and phonetic recording modes.And the statistical analysis of some action words is conducted to briefly analyze the recording characteristics of action words.Then,it analyzes the posture characteristics of characters and symbols that record body action words from the two angles of font characteristics and configuration mode.Finally,some phenomena in the sutra that are not easy to determine the recording mode are analyzed by example from the perspective of character writing position relationship.The last part is the concluding remarks,which summarizes the content discussed above and the knowledge gained,and points out the difficulties encountered in the research process.As a first paper on the topic of physical action words in the Naxi Dongba Sutra,the main innovations of this article are as follows:1.For the first time,we collect and organize the words of body movements in specific documents and define their meanings.2.For the first time,the words of physical action in Dongba are classified into the categories of upper limb actions,lower limb actions,single syllables,and double syllables from different perspectives such as the position of the action and the number of syllables.3.It is the first time to investigate and analyze the language units of physical action words,the way of writing records,and the posture of symbols in the scriptures.4.To discover the phenomenon of homomorphism of words and phrases in the scriptures as well as the special common phenomenon,and to analyze some incorrect translations in the literature.
