With the economy continuously growing and people’s living standards improving,the tourism industry has become the main force of driving national economic growth.Research literature on tourism and tourism management in English emerge rapidly in large amounts.The translation of such literature into Chinese is of great practical significance for domestic tourism research.This report is based on the translation practice of the English academic book Tourist Destination Management: Instruments,Products,and Case Studies.The report includes the background,significance and process of the translation task,typical cases in translation practice are analyzed under the guidance of Newmark’s text type theory,communicative and semantic translation approaches.The report includes four chapters.The first chapter introduces the main content of the translation task as well as the significance of the practice.The second chapter describes the overall process of translation task.The third chapter analyzes the typical cases under the guidance of Newmark’s translation theory,and discusses the methods and skills of translating academic texts.The last chapter summarizes the shortcomings during the translation practice as well as the author’s gains from the practice.Through the case study of the translation practice,it is hoped that some inspiration and reference can be provided for other translators to translate similar types of literature.
