| The research texts of the study are selected from the book Cultural Affinity and Screen Tourism. With the rapid development of China’s tourism industry, translation of tourism texts is becoming more and more important to the translation industry. The study of the translation practices of such texts contributes to the substantive development of tourism.Communicative Translation,as a way of intercultural communication, has certain guiding significance for translators when translating such texts. From the perspective of Communicative Translation, the paper, mainly using like empirical research methods, systematically studies the translation of selected tourism texts at the lexical, syntactic and discourse levels. Moreover,a better translation can be produced when translators use translation strategies such as amplification, omission, literal translation and free translation etc.,to get closer to the author of the source text, while paying attention to the reader’s comprehension and reaction on the basis of the linguistic characteristics of the tourism text itself. This paper consists of six chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, which mainly demonstrates the research background, the research methodology, the research objectives and its significance. The second chapter provides a literature review. It specifically analyses relevant studies and the current status of Communicative Translation and tourism text translation both in and out of China. The third chapter introduces the translation process, specifically outlining the following processes: pre-translation preparation, practice while-translating,post-translation and revision.Chapter 4 provides a theoretical framework, outlining the adaptability of Newmark’s theory of Communicative Translation to tourism text translation on the basis of a systematic analysis of the theory, and constructing the theoretical framework for the paper.Chapter 5 is the main part of this paper.Based on the identification of core lexical concepts appeared in the source texts,it systematically studied the translation of tourism texts at the lexical, syntactic and discourse levels. The final chapter shows the conclusion of the study and the summary of the paper, which outlines the research findings and the translator’s gains in translation. At the same time,it points out some shortcomings of the study and offers suggestions for further exploration in the future. The study shows that the Communicative Translation has practical significance for the translation of tourism texts, and it also has inspiration for the text creation and quality enhancement in translating such texts. |
