Economic Globalization offers a perfect opportunity for cross-border tourism, spurring larger amount of tourists to book the tourist projects online even they know little English. So, nowadays tourist website E-C translation is quite critical in that there provides catchy and useful information to attract more potential guests.This project was finished by 8 MTI students altogether under the requirement of Australian Tourist Commission, lasting for three months. Having participated in the group discussion, the author adopts text typology of Newmark and Reiss to analyze the two distinct parts of the source text(ST) including text type, genre, syntactic feature and lexical feature. Informative text, expressive text and vocative text are main text types in the theory of Newmark. The first part of ST showing more promoting color of advertisement mainly pertains to the vocative text, while the second part which is concise and formal functions as an informative text to remind the potential tourists of the dos and don‘ts before or during the trip. Among the six translation methods of Newmark, semantic translation and communicative translation are most frequently applied: the former one reserves the form of ST, not seeking for consistent effect but its content with ST; the latter is such a reader-oriented theory that respects as much the culture of target language(TT) as possible, focusing on the result and effect. Within one text there may be more than one translation method. From the perspective of the two parts, communicative translation is seen more in the descriptive part, while the semantic translation is more appropriate for the tables.Analysis results indicate the difficulties of the translation project, which are mainly in the first part. From the lexical level, it is required to attach more significance to proper names and places, four-character structure, self-references. And imperative sentences, addition and split translation in the syntactic level also need to be highlighted. Examples will be explained in detail to seek for the solutions.After each translator finishing her part, the whole target text has been combined together to be proofread, revised. Clients‘ feedback to us was good enough to convince us that the translation strategies we have adopted are very helpful in this text type.
