In the 21st century,there are more and more academic activities between China and other countries in the word.With the highly developed modern technology,telecommuting and remote meetings become the most essential part of communication and exchanges.Therefore,distance classroom becomes the important place to conduct academic discussions,which has resolved various problems in different regions,personnel and financial problems.Besides,the pandemic makes it hard for densely populated places like schools to have classes as usual,thus making the online teaching as the only choice for both teachers and students.Because of such characteristic,it is meaningful to conduct such study,in this way can help interpreters better adapt to similar situations.This practice report is based on the author’s interpreting practice as a consecutive interpreter for Doctors who were taking online courses in a university in the Philippines.The report analyzes the main problems under the guidance of Daniel Gile’s Effort Model,which focuses on effort allocation imbalance occurred in real interpreting practice.It is concluded that the causes of interpreting failures are accent,information overload,illegible handwriting and fillers in different phases.Accordingly,coping strategies are proposed such as inferencing,omission,note-taking approach and simplification,which are expected to serve as a reference for future studies on interpreting practice.
