Research On Kukai Calligraphy And Its Enlightenment To My Creation

Kukai,known as Japan’s "Calligraphy Sage",has laid the foundation of Japanese calligraphy.The paper discusses Kukai’s calligraphic spirit from four aspects:the inheritance of traditional calligraphic view,the embodiment of Confucianism,the support and creative experience of argumentation of Esoteric Buddhism,and the writing of observation.First of all,it continues the traditional Chinese calligraphic thought represented by Cai Yong and Wang Xizhi;Second,it raises calligraphy to the moral level which is closely related to people,and thinks that "Tao" is hidden in the yin and yang stippling of calligraphy;Third,combined with the argumentation of Esoteric Buddhism,it emphasizes the creative state of "conception behind the pen,but words in front of the heart";Fourth,compared with Zhang Xu,Huang Tingjian and other calligraphers,it highlights its artistic spirit more intuitively.By using a large number of images and documents,and combined with calligraphy theories in Jin and Tang Dynasties,it expounds the calligraphy style,the way of calligraphy learning,and the source of methods choosing of Kukai from three aspects:grasping ancient methods,breaking through the boundaries of calligraphy style and using miscellaneous books.It has found many missing"ancient methods" in his calligraphy,which can help us to understand the full picture of calligraphy in Jin and Tang Dynasties more deeply.By studying and combing Kukai’s calligraphic thought and calligraphy practice,we can know our own learning path more clearly.By taking the calligraphy of Kukai as the methods choosing object,and referring to the related calligraphy posts in Jin and Tang Dynasties,the author creates a series of works from the aspects of understanding of the classics,daily handwriting training,the practice of Feibai and calligraphy style,and the integration of chirography,achieving the purpose of applying what you have learned and learning from the past and learning the present.
