Research On The Multifunctionality Of "ken"(肯)in Chinese

“Ken”(肯)in Chinese is a multifunctional word,this paper takes “Ken”(肯)as the research object,making full use of the language materials of ancient Chinese,Mandarin,Chinese dialects,discusses the multifunctional usages of“Ken”(肯)at the synchronic level of modern Chinese,and explains its functional historical evolution process and the reasons using related theories of modern linguistics.On this basis,it refers to the facts of language distribution and grammaticalization paths to construct a conceptual space and semantic map of “Ken”(肯),establishes semantic associations between multifunctional usages and explores the implicational universals of language.This paper is divided into five chapters:Chapter One,Introduction.It mainly introduces the reason and basis for selecting “Ken”(肯)for research,explains the synchronic and diachronic research status of“Ken”(肯),and indicates the research significance and methods of this paper,and makes relevant explanations on the main theories and the corpus sources.Chapter Two investigates the function of “Ken”(肯)in modern Chinese.Based on the language materials of Mandarin and dialects,combined with previous studies and language surveys,the functional usage of “Ken”(肯)at the synchronic level of modern Chinese is sorted and merged.Chapter Three analyzes the multifunctional historical evolution of “Ken”(肯).Taking historical documents as the object of investigation,this chapter conducts a systematic and comprehensive investigation and analysis of the usage of“Ken”(肯),traces its syntax and semantics of evolution and establishes a complete chain of development.And it forms a reference with the multifunctional performance of“Ken”(肯)in modern Chinese at the synchronic level.Chapter Four explains the reasons for the multifunctional evolution of “Ken”(肯)and its internal connection.On the basis of historical investigation,the chapter tries to explore the reasons for the evolution and disappearance of its functional usage.With reference to the distribution of language facts,the semantic map model is used to explain the multifunctional internal relations.By analyzing the connection process of the functional nodes of “Ken”(肯),we can construct the conceptual space,cut out the semantic maps of ancient Chinese,Mandarin and different dialects,and conclude the implicational universals of “Ken”(肯).Chapter Five,Conclusion.Summarize the main content and viewpoints of this paper,point out the innovations and the problems that need to be studied in the future.
