| The translation of neologisms and terms between Chinese and Uyghur has always been an important and cutting-edge practical research problem in the field of Chinese minority languages.Most of the previous studies focused on the standardization and normalization of neologisms and terms translation.By analyzing the internal structure of words and the strategies and methods used in in Uyghur translation,this paper aims to explore the correlation between them,and to explore the translation principles that Chinese economic neologisms should follow in Chinese Uyghur translation.Using four research methods of quantitative statistical method,structural analysis method,descriptive method and literature analysis,this paper statistically sorted out681 economic neologisms from 3,137 neologisms in The Chinese-Uygur Comparison of Neologisms(2019 Edition)(China National Language Translation Bureau,2019).Based on the analysis of corpus structure,it is found that there are three types of terms in Chinese economic neologism: compound,additive and contractive,among which compound structures are the most,accounting for 94%.Compound structures also include subject-predicate,verb-object,associative,complement and partial formal,among which partial formal is divided into attributive structure and adverbial structure.The number of additional structure and abbreviated word structure is relatively small and almost equal,accounting for 3%.The additional structure is divided into prefix and suffix,and the abbreviated structure is divided into three types:extraction,co-prime and table number.Through translation analysis,it is found that three translation strategies are adopted in the process of translation of Chinese new economic terms: domestication,foreignization and domestication + foreignization;free translation and imitation translation are used in the domestication strategy;literal translation,word-by-word translation,zero translation + literal translation and transliteration + literal translation are used in the foreignization strategy.Under the domestication + foreignization strategy,three translation methods are used: transliteration + free translation,literal translation + free translation,and word-by-word translation + free translation.On the whole,foreignization strategy is the main strategy,supplemented by the other two strategies.Literal translation is the main method,free translation,literal translation and free translation are supplemented by other translation methods.Combined with the above analysis,it is found that Chinese new economic terms will choose corresponding translation methods according to different word structure characteristics.Compound structure is commonly used in translation with three translation methods: literal translation,free translation,and literal translation + free translation.In attributive structure,due to the flexible and diverse semantic meanings of words,eight translation methods are used.Additional-type words will choose different translation methods according to the position of affixes.Prefixes tend to adopt the imitation translation and free translation methods under the domestication strategy,while suffixes tend to adopt the literal translation methods under the foreignization strategy,supplemented by imitation and free translation.Abbreviated word structure will choose different translation methods according to the different abbreviations,there is an overall trend of literal translation and free translation,supplemented by word-by-word translation.Based on the structural characteristics of corpus and translation characteristics,this paper summarizes that the translation of Chinese economic neologisms should follow the principles of correct understanding of structure and semantics,reasonable use of translation methods,standardized principles of uniform terminology standards,correct grammar of the target language and economic principles of easy to understand. |
