According to 《the report on the global situation of road safety in 2018》,reasonable traffic injury is the main cause of death for people aged 5 to 29.The causes of road traffic injuries are complex and diverse,but the causes of children’s own traffic behavior irregularities can not be ignored,and the deeper reason is the lack of children’s awareness of traffic safety,so improving the awareness of traffic safety is an important measure to protect them from road traffic injuries.In this regard,the author used the questionnaire of children’s traffic safety awareness to sample 160 primary and secondary school students in W community of Kunming City by chance to understand the situation of traffic safety awareness.Through data analysis,the author found that the current situation of traffic safety awareness of the respondents is not optimistic,only 17% of the primary and secondary school students have good traffic safety awareness.Among them,the traffic safety awareness of primary school students is slightly worse than that of junior high school students,and that of boys is worse than that of girls.Therefore,improving children’s traffic safety awareness is the focus of this study.This research is based on the public welfare project of "protecting childhood and safe travel for children" jointly implemented by Yunnan Boya youth mental health research institute,Volkswagen Group(China)and China Women’s development foundation to explore the effect of group activities and community publicity and education on improving children’s traffic safety awareness.Based on Piaget’s view of cognitive development,cognitive psychology and ecosystem theory,this study uses questionnaire survey and interview to analyze children’s awareness of traffic safety from three dimensions of safety knowledge,safety behavior choice tendency and safety attitude;group work method is used to provide six group intervention activities and social use for seven children aged 10-13 in the community District publicity and education methods provide services to primary school students from grade one to grade six.The results showed that: first,in group activities,the score of group members after intervention(30 ± 1.31)was higher than that before intervention(16.43 ± 3.25),and the difference was statistically significant(t = 11.382,P < 0.001);second,the participation in community publicity and education was high,which attracted the full attention and attention of schools and families,and the total number of participants in community publicity and education reached 4640.The final conclusion is that children aged 6-13 have the need to improve their awareness of traffic safety;social work can effectively improve their awareness of traffic safety.
