Japan and Brazil are geographically far apart, and the two countries rarely meet each other in history. But it is in these two countries which are far away from each other and have great cultural differences that large-scale immigration took place between the end of the 19 th century and the middle of the 20 th century, and these immigrants took root and germinated in Brazil.Through generations of cultivation, they became a unique ethnic group in Brazil, and played a very important role in Brazil. The international relations at the beginning of the 20 th century are the most complex and profound period since modern times. The capitalist colonial system has been established. There are many contradictions between imperialism, and the whole world has been involved in the struggle between capital imperialism.During this period,Japanese immigrants to Brazil have several characteristics: First of all,it’s a long distance. The migration distance spans the whole Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean.Secondly, the number of Japanese immigrants to Brazil accounts for 70% of the total Japanese immigrants to South America.Thirdly, there are huge cultural differences.Japan belongs to the East Asian cultural circle while Brazil belongs to the Latin cultural circle. After combing the relevant historical documents, combining with the "push-pull" theory of international migration theory and the relevant research methods of international relations, this paper analyzes. From the beginning of the 20 th century to the outbreak of the Pacific War,the author believes that the main reasons for Japan’s emigration to Brazil are due to various domestic and Brazilian pulling forces and counter pulling forces, thrust and counter pushing forces,as well as the mutual influence and interaction of the international pattern at that time. This paper attempts to explore what are the driving forces in the process of immigration and how they interact with each other. The paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter introduces the general situation of Japanese immigration to Brazil, including the historical background of the immigration period, the specific process of immigration, the form of immigration, and the immigration thoughts of Japanese accompanied by the immigration process. The second chapter discusses the emergence of "push-pull" theory as the oldest immigration theory, and the deepening and expansion of it by later scholars. And according to the "push-pull" theory, the theoretical framework of Japanese immigrants to Brazil is constructed. The third chapter is the core chapter, which analyzes the motivation in the process of Japanese immigration to Brazil, including: what is the motivation, how to interact, and what are the influencing factors. The fourth chapter discusses the impact of Japanese immigrants to Brazil on the two countries in various aspects.Mainly from the diplomatic and economic aspects.
