China’s "anti-epidemic" process under the covid-19 is the epitome of the world.At the beginning of the epidemic,international public opinion field suddenly focused on China.Every utterance and every action of China have been noticed by people from all over the world.In the face of such a major international issue,will China’s national image change? Is the road to international communication getting more difficult? This study takes the construction of China’s national image by China Global Television Network(CGTN)’s foreign epidemic coverage as the research object.Based on the background of the omnimedia era,the content analysis method is used for quantitative research to study the specific international samples of CGTN during the epidemic.What kind of national image has been constructed? Does it break the blockade of "The Other Mirror Image" and take active action to talk to the world? During this process,what problems have emerged in the construction of the country’s image? What’s the possible option for constructing a national image? The research findings illustrate that CGTN’s international reports have several characteristics: balanced topic distribution,active agenda setting,and control of the trend in public opinion;a change in narrative mode,and the short video being popular form.The value of the reports shows characteristics:adhering to the authenticity of the news,multi-dimensional explaining the various situations of China in the period.In terms of communication effect research,this paper finds that the framework model of "positive report" and controversial issues can activate the audience’s attention and participation.Through weakening the differences between political language and both ideologies,we can break through the barriers of communication by arousing human empathy.At the same time,there are many problems in the construction of national image: China’s international communication is not optimistic,information epidemic leads to social anxiety,and algorithmic robots spread false information,Chinese "Aphasia" mode needs to be transformed.Ultimately,this paper proposes some countermeasures for constructing a new national image based on the kernel of the four-omnimedia.
