As the end of governance and the forefront of serving the people, community is the key of social governance. The effectiveness of social governance in a region largely depends on the effectiveness of community governance. With the deepening of reform and opening up,the content of community governance in China has gradually diversified, and the pattern of co construction,co governance and sharing has basically taken shape. At the same time, people’s requirements for community governance are becoming more and more strict. In order to better understand and meet the needs of the masses, social forces should be fully activated. In particular, residents should be invited to the stage,so that residents can truly become the widest participants, the biggest beneficiaries and the final judge of community governance, which is the key to improve the effect of community governance.Entering the stage of modern community governance,an obvious change is that it no longer adopts the "one-to-one" single line process, but emphasizes the collaborative governance of multiple subjects, but among these subjects, residents are the most core. Therefore, this paper takes residents’ participation in H community governance in W City as the research object, takes collaborative governance theory, citizen participation theory and social capital theory as the research tools, and uses various research methods such as questionnaire survey, literature research and case study to conduct field research on Residents’ participation in H community governance.Through the analysis of the questionnaire survey results, this paper summarizes the existing problems of residents’ participation in the community, mainly including low participation rate, insufficient breadth and depth of participation, narrow channels of participation, low degree of organization of participation, insufficient internal drive of participation and so on.On this basis, combined with relevant theories, this paper deeply analyzes the causes of the problems, which can be summarized into five aspects: the lack of residents’ awareness of participation and sense of belonging, the fuzzy boundary of rights and responsibilities of various participants, the imperfect residents’ participation system and channels, the imperfect development of community self-organization,and the small stock of community social capital. Finally,in view of the existing problems, this paper puts forward constructive improvement suggestions from five aspects: improving residents’ participation consciousness and sense of belonging, optimizing the rights and responsibilities of various participants, improving residents’ participation system and channels, accelerating the development of community self-organization and cultivating community social capital, which has a certain reference significance for solving the problem of residents’ participation in community governance.
