| It is required in English Curriculum Standard of Compulsory Education(2011 Version)that English teaching should cultivate comprehensive language application ability of students started with “doing things through languages”.While oral teaching in primary school English is inevitably influenced by the examination-oriented education system,a number of teachers partially take English examination performance as the standard to evaluate English learning of students,while leads to a wrong utilitaire attitude of students towards oral English learning as well as difficulties in sufficient developments of talent for primary school students to learn a new language,and finally resulted in a low oral English communicative competence to them.Thus,how to optimize oral teaching are problems needing urgent solutions.With X Primary School as example,investigations and researches were launched in this study through methods including literature law,questionnaire,interview and classroom observation,through which existing problems were analyzed,and referable suggestions were put forward for oral English teaching in high grades of primary schools based on guidance of behaviorist learning theory,Piagetian-stage theory of cognitive development and language input learning theory.First of all,through questionnaire method,investigations and analysis were made on current status of oral English leaning conditions of students and oral teaching conditions of teachers in high grades of X Primary School from 6 dimensions,namely attitude towards oral learning,feelings about oral language classes,evaluations on oral effect tests,level of oral language output capacity,oral language learning environment and problems in oral language learning,and then problems existing in oral English teaching in high grades of primary schools were comprehensively analyzed through interviews with English teachers of those grades and a series of classroom observations.Secondly,reasons that caused problems for oral teaching in high grades of X Primary School were analyzed mainly from 3 aspects in this thesis,namely school,students,and teachers.It was found that the school lacked of oral English courses and related activities.teachers taught in singular modes in classes,the classroom language environment is not good,the evaluation of students’ oral ability is not satisfactory.students were lack of knowledge on linguistic elements,etc.To improve problems existing in oral teaching in high grades of X Primary School,pertinent strategies were putforward in this research from aspects of school,student and teacher,hoping to truly realize the purpose of promoting oral teaching level in high grades of primary schools.Based on the theoretical foundation of oral English teaching in the upper primary school,this paper analyzes the current situation of oral English teaching in primary school English,tries to optimize the implementation of oral teaching,and hopes to provide reference and support for oral teaching in practice. |
