A Study On Social Work Intervention In The Social Integration Of Migrant Children Of Beijing

China is witnessing a boom in the development of the economy and a new urbanization plan since the launch of China’s reform and opening-up.As the increasing number of families from other cities and rural areas continually move to Beijing,their children also come to Beijing for receiving education.After the completion of elementary and junior high schools,they however have to leave for high school education at places where they originally come from,since they are not permanent residents here.The problem with this is they cannot take the college entrance examination.Hence in an unfamiliar environment,it is difficult for the children to get involved into it,and they face many other issues including individual identity and education,and so on.Studying the social integration of the children moving group in the high school stage is of great significance,which is relevant to their healthy growth and social stability and harmony.This paper aims to research migrant children at the high school level in Beijing.It presents the situation of the social integration for children who moved to Beijing based on the previous studies on the field.It analyzes the status of the social integration of children of migrant workers from four aspects.Quantitative and qualitative methods are combined to obtain data.In-depth interviews and questionnaire surveys are conducted in X Middle School,8 students are selected to be interviewed.Firstly,the research focuses on social characteristics of demographics of children of migrant workers.Secondly,it conducts an analysis of social integration of children of migrant workers,and lastly focus on social work intervention to improve the social integration of children of migrant workers.It has been found that the majority of the children have the problems of ambiguous identities,low levels of localization of social interaction,poor school education adaptation,and lack of family education.In the meanwhile,their social and cultural adaptation needs to be improved.On the whole,the migrant children are suffering low social integration at this school.On the basis of clarifying the social integration status of the children of migrant workers in X middle school,and it reveals the significance and methods of the intervention strategies of social work and the importance of establishing The intervention strategies of social work.Aiming at the difficulties encountered by the children of migrant workers in the X Middle School,social workers put forward countermeasures and suggestions from the four aspects of family,education,peers and the environment using scientific professional methods.As it pointed out,the problems faced by the children of migrant workers require all parties to work together and cooperate with each other.Scientific and professional social work intervention measures will help solve the problem,and promote the healthy growth of the children of migrant workers and even the entire society harmonious development.
