| Objective: Compile a stress event scale dedicated to postgraduate freshmen, test the reliability and validity of the scale to provide a reliable and effective measurement tool for postgraduate freshmen stress assessment. The scale was used to investigate the main stress events and stress levels faced by freshmen, and explore the role of perceived stress in stress events and depression、anxiety.Aimed to provide a scientific basis for preventing and interfering the postgraduate freshmen depression and anxietyMethods: This study was conducted in two stages, all using convenient sampling methods. In the first stage, based on the postgraduate freshman coursework and related research, the "Initial Scale of Postgraduate Freshman Stress Events" is compiled.A total of 504 postgraduate freshman from 2017 Huazhong University of Science and Technology were selected for initial scale testing.Discrete trend method, discrimination analysis, correlation coefficient method,Cronbach alpha coefficient method and factor analysis were used for item analysis and screening.Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was used to examine the structural validity of the scale, internal consistency, and reliability of the retest reliability test scale. In the second stage,770 postgraduate freshman of Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2019 were selected and surveyed using the "Postgraduate Freshmen Stress Event Scale","Chinese Perceived Stress Scale"," Self-rating Depression Scale" and " Self-rating Anxiety Scale".Use Amos to test the effect of perceived stress in stress events and depression, anxiety. Results: In the first stage, the 47-item initial scale after item analysis and screening.11 items were deleted and a 36-item "Postgraduate Freshman Stress Events Scale" is conformed. The reliability and validity test of the scale shows that the 5-factor structural model has a good fit(χ2 / df = 2.58,CFI = 0.92,NNFI = 0.91,SRMR = 0.75,RMSEA = 0.06).The Cronbach α coefficient of the total table is 0.90,and each factor is between 0.72-0.86.The retest reliability coefficient of the total scale is 0.56,and each factor is between 0.51-0.60.The scale has good reliability and validity. In the second stage, the incidence rate of postgraduate freshman stress events was the highest in terms of lack of professional knowledge(93.12%),and the lowest rate of forced marriage was(48.70%).The sense of stress from strong to weak is as follows: academic pressure, employment and economic pressure, other pressure, interpersonal relationship pressure, marriage pressure.Girls ’academic, employment and economic pressures were significantly higher than boys’(P<0.05);boys ’interpersonal relationship and marriage pressure were significantly higher than girls’(P<0.05);However,there was no statistically significant difference between boys and girls in the total score of stress events and total stress(P>0.05).The detection rates of depression and anxiety among postgraduate freshmen were 24.94% and 19.48%,respectively.There is a significant positive correlation between stress events, perceived stress, depression and anxiety(P <0.05).perceived stress plays a partial mediating role between stress events and depression, anxiety. Conclusions: In this study, the self-compiled postgraduate freshmen stress event scale has a good reliability and validity, and can be used for postgraduate freshman stress assessment.Stress events can directly affect the occurrence of depression and anxiety in postgraduate freshmen, and they can also indirectly affect depression and anxiety through the mediating effect of perceived stress. |
