Table tennis is one of the advantages of traditional ball games in China.It plays an important role in China and is known as the "national ball".As an important carrier of College Students’ physical education course learning and physical exercise,the college table tennis elective course is loved by college students for its unique competitiveness,fitness and entertainment.As a new teaching method,goal setting teaching method is widely used in college physical education courses and has achieved good teaching results,but it is seldom used in college table tennis elective courses.With the continuous reform and development of the teaching concept,teaching mode,teaching method and curriculum setting of college physical education,it is of great significance to explore the application of the teaching method of goal setting in the teaching of college table tennis elective course for the implementation of the teaching concept of comprehensive quality education and the reform of the teaching method,teaching method and teaching mode of college physical education.Through the research methods of literature,questionnaire,experiment and mathematical statistics,the teaching concept of "goal setting teaching method" has been permeated into the classroom teaching of table tennis elective course in college physical education.By selecting 40 students from each class of 2017’s College of Arts and the school of student environment of Gannan Normal University as the experimental objects,the single blind experiment method has been adopted for two classes for one time 28 class hours of elective course of table tennis in University.Under the condition of ensuring the consistency of teaching content,teaching time,teaching place and teachers,one class adopts the teaching method of goal setting,the other adopts the traditional teaching method.At the end of the semester,we tested the learning motivation,sports self-confidence and table tennis skills of the students in the two classes,and made a comparative analysis of the test results:(1)The application of goal setting theory in the course teaching of college table tennis can effectively improve students’ Sports self-confidence,learning enthusiasm and initiative,as well as the mastery and application of table tennis skills.(2)The research on the application of goal setting theory in table tennis course of university public elective course proves that it can help students’ Sports self-confidence and improve their sports self-confidence.(3)The application research of goal setting theory in table tennis course of university public elective course,three skill data indicators show that goal setting theory is conducive to students’ mastery of table tennis skills.(4)Setting clear,concrete,measurable goals and long-term and short-term goals is conduciveto students’ independent practice,forming self-evaluation and self goal difficulty challenges.
