Transportation infrastructure construction is an important measure to build a strong country, and also the only way for urban development.Transportation infrastructure is the bridge of urban development. Its construction determines the development direction of urban transportation, affects the urban spatial pattern, and is closely related to the distribution of employment, residence and flow velocity of urban population. In China, population mobility has become a social norm.In recent years, the overall development of the size of China’s floating population has gradually entered an adjustment period, and has gradually changed from a continuous rise to a slow decline. Therefore, exploring the mechanism and degree of influence of urban transport infrastructure on urban population mobility is of great significance for the Chinese government to rationally optimize the size of urban population and scientifically regulate urban population mobility. This article first sorted out the previous literature, and found that domestic and foreign literature mostly focused on the relationship between urban transport infrastructure and the urban economy,or the relationship between the level of urban economic development and the size of the urban population. The relationship between infrastructure and the urban population, and the mobility of the urban population has not been fully considered when studying the relationship between the two.At the level of theoretical analysis, first, this article analyzes the development status and characteristics of transportation infrastructure and population mobility based on relevant data.Second, theoretically analyzes the mechanism of the role of urban transportation infrastructure on inter-city population spatial movement. The construction will improve the accessibility of transportation lines, enhance the mobility of production factors, and increase employment opportunities, thereby promoting population mobility. At the same time, the construction of transportation infrastructure may cause problems such as traffic congestion and environmental pollution, resulting in population outflows. At the level of empirical analysis, this article divides 266 cities into four regions according to the national official location division standard, and divides 266 cities into inflow regions and outflow regions according to the direction of population flow. The traffic infrastructure’s impact on the intensity and density of population flow influences. This article first analyzes the development status and characteristics of transportation infrastructure and population mobility based on relevant data.Secondly, theoretically analyze the mechanism of the role of urban transport infrastructure on inter-urban population mobility. It is believed that the construction of urban transport infrastructure improves the accessibility of transport routes, enhances the mobility of production factors, and increases employment opportunities, thereby promoting population mobility.Cause traffic congestion, environmental pollution and other problems, resulting in population outflow. At the level of empirical analysis, this article divides 266 cities into four regions according to the national official location division standard, and divides 266 cities into population inflow regions and outflow regions according to the direction of population flow. This paper uses Stata15 to analyze the impact of the transportation infrastructure of the country and the four regional cities on the intensity of inter-urban population flow and the degree of population concentration in urban areas, and then adds the second term of transportation infrastructure, and compares the results to verify whether he traffic infrastructure has an inverted U-shaped effect on population movements. And the article compares and analyzes the different impacts of transportation construction on the population inflow and outflow areas. The empirical results show that the transportation infrastructure has promoted the inflow of population in the eastern region and the outflow of population in the central and western regions, and the empirical results show that the inflow of population in the inflow regions such as the eastern and central developed regions is decreasing, while that in the central and western regions population backflow.Urban transport infrastructure has a significant effect on the intensity of inter-city population mobility and urban population density, but it does not show a significant inverse U-shaped relationship to the intensity of population mobility. As for the population density of urban jurisdictions, the density of urban transport infrastructure has an impact on the urban areas of eastern regions. The population density did not show an inverted U-shaped relationship, and the whole country, the central region, and the northeast region showed an inverted U-shaped relationship that promoted and then suppressed.
