Mind mapping is closely related to thinking,and mathematics is the right subject to train students’ thinking ability.But few application of mind mapping were done in mathematics teaching,especially in the first stage of primary school.There are few studies on it.The author analyzes the theory of brain science and the thinking characteristics of students in primary school.It is feasible and necessary to study the application of mind mapping in mathematics teaching in the first stage.Mind mapping in the first stage can help cultivate students’ divergent thinking and innovative ability.It also can help cultivate students’ imagination and build a complete knowledge system.Through reading a large number of literature materials,the author conducted a questionnaire survey on "students’ cognition of mind mapping in the first stage" and "the current situation of teachers’ application of mind mapping in the first stage".It is found that although students don’t know much about mind mapping,but they really like this kind of learning method of combining pictures with texts.Many teachers in primary school know about the role of mind mapping,but they don’t know how to give full play to its advantages in teaching practice.They think that mind mapping is only suitable for the senior students of primary school,but not suitable for the students of the first stage who have low cognitive ability and low literacy level.Therefore,in the “Mind Mapping”activity of our school’s Children’s Palace,the author carried out the research among 38 students who volunteered to participate in this position.It is pointed out that the mind mapping can be used in the presentation,practice and revision classes.It is also proved that mind mapping can be used as an important auxiliary means in the first stage of mathematics teaching in primary school through cases.It reverses the classroom teaching mode,changes the way of students’ thinking,and plays a great role in the cultivation of students’ divergent thinking and the construction of model thinking.On this basis,the strategies of using mind mapping to assist teaching in different course types are extracted.They can guide more front-line teachers to carry out the study of mind mapping and attach importance to the cultivation of students’ thinking.
