| International academic exchange is one of the important manifestations of the scientific internationalization development. The current research on international academic exchange is based on the content of the research, this paper mainly discusses the urban spatial relations under the effect of knowledge flow and the structural, relational and subjective characteristics of the urban network constructed on the basis of knowledge flow, the data of patents, publications, papers and other output stages are often used as important data sources for research. From the spatial scale of research, most of the relevant research is done at the national and regional levels, while the research on cities is relatively less.In this paper,we take the international academic lectures as data source, the city as spatial research scale,32 major Chinese cities and 256 foreign cities were extracted from 15,793 international academic lectures held by 92 985/211 universities in China from January 1,2018 to December 31,2019,forming a 32 * 256 urban linkage data matrix,by using quadrant analysis,Hhi index analysis, location entropy and Arc GIS spatial analysis, this paper studies the spatial distribution of international academic links in 32 cities in China based on international academic lectures, the specific research contents include the spatial distribution characteristics of 32 Chinese cities and 256 foreign cities, the visualization of international academic links between domestic and foreign cities, the spatial distribution similarities and differences of international academic links between 32 Chinese cities, the geographic proximity of 32 Chinese cities, the individual differences of 32 Chinese cities in selecting exchange objects, and the clustering patterns. The final research results show that the overall level of foreign exchange of Chinese cities is relatively high, international academic links mainly take place in the eastern coastal cities such as Beijing、Shanghai、Guangzhou and others with relatively high economic and educational levels such as Chengdu,Wuhan,Xi’an,etc.North America and Europe,as two regions with advanced economic and educational resources, have wider academic exchanges with China, followed by Asia and Oceania. The international academic links between Chinese and foreign cities based on academic lectures are quite complicated, the 32 Chinese cities have different preferences in selecting exchange objects, and there is a certain clustering pattern. The spatial characteristics of international academic links show a two-level differentiation.Geographical proximity and non-geographical proximity act together on international academic relations. |
