The Value And Realization Path Of Public Diplomacy Of Chinese Sports Stars In The New Era

Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China,sports diplomacy has been a diplomatic tool for China to steadily improve its international status and safeguard its national interests.From "ping-pong diplomacy" and "Olympic diplomacy" to "adhering to the mission of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation,advancing major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics,and promoting the building of a new type of international relations and a community with a shared future for mankind" in the new era.As a diplomatic tool,sport has improved people’s living standards,promoted the building of a healthy China,and witnessed the transformation of New China’s international status from a participant and organizer to an advocate.Since the beginning of the new century,many stars with the value of sports public diplomacy have emerged in our country,providing a window for the world to understand China.The emergence of sports stars requires the use of large-scale competitions or outstanding performance in high-profile professional leagues.The2020 Tokyo Olympics has been postponed due to the new crown epidemic.It has been five years since the last Olympics.During this period,Chinese sports talents are in a stage of changing between the old and the new,and Zhang Weili won the first UFC world championship in China.The star break is a timely supplement.Analyzing the value of Zhang Weili’s sports public diplomacy is a positive reference value for my country’s follow-up sports public diplomacy.This article uses communication,journalism,political science,psychology and other multi-disciplinary knowledge,combined with documentary method,case analysis method,and text research method to conduct empirical research,to search and sort people and events with public diplomatic value at home and abroad.Distilling the characteristics of these people or events that play a decisive role in sports public diplomacy,it is found that the value of sports public diplomacy is related to the influence of sports events and the characteristics of athletes as the main body of sports diplomacy.The innovations of this article are as follows: First,as a hot sports star in China in the past two years,Zhang Weili has a high nationality,strong topicality,and timeliness.At present,there are not many studies on Zhang Weili as the research object.This research combines the international background and the requirements of the times.Studying the value of Zhang Weili’s public diplomacy can fill the gap in this regard.Second,in the past,most of the research objects of “sports public diplomacy” are established facts that have already occurred and have had an impact,such as success and influence.This article will focus on analyzing Zhang Weili’s personal characteristics and influence,and propose ideas for Zhang Weili’s future development;thirdly,looking at various schools and viewpoints of public diplomacy,It focuses on advocating the government’s cultural,educational,and media propaganda of public diplomacy,mainly acknowledging the role of non-governmental organizations in public diplomacy,and seldom studies the role of individuals,especially social elites,as the main body of public diplomacy.Therefore,the presentation of this article is complementary,This gap has a positive effect.This article emphasizes that it is necessary for my country to conduct sports public diplomacy in the new era.According to the current my country’s foreign policy and the characteristics of sports stars,it is concluded that the purpose of my country’s sports public diplomacy in the new era is not only to spread my country’s culture and policies,but also to build international discourse power through the influence of sports topics.The value of sports stars as the main body of public diplomacy is mainly reflected in the realization and transmission of the connotation of truth,goodness and beauty.Taking Zhang Weili as an example,her public diplomacy value is mainly embodied in the realization and transmission of on-field value,off-field value,cultural communication value and the value of female identity.This article believes that if Zhang Weili wants to realize the value of public diplomacy,it is necessary not only to build an excellent media image through mass communication while avoiding risks,but also to enhance its influence by enhancing commercial value and expanding social roles.
