Base on the existing and data,this study draws on relevant research results at domestic and abroad to study the current situation of after-school care for primary school students in Guangzhou.Through the research,it further discovers the problems and causes of after-school care and explores the improvement of the strategy of after-school care for primary school students,and provide the reference and inspiration for promoting the development of after-school care as well as solving the “four and a half problem ”.The survey of the thesis mainly bases on questionnaires and partly on interviews.Through the questionnaires,we comprehend the authentic situation of the implementation of after-school care services for primary school students in Guangzhou,including the awareness and needs of different stakeholders for after-school care services,the participation and satisfaction of primary school students’ after-school care services,,the needs for school after-school care services and the evaluation and suggestions on the effect of after-school care.Through interviews,we deeply learn the actual management of primary school students’ after-school care,teacher’s view and suggestions on participation in after-school care.According to survey,it shows the following conclusions.First,despite the achievement in the practice of intra-school,some common problems are still waiting to be solved.The problems include that there is a strong demand for students to enroll in nursery schools,and the teachers feel pressured;due to the large deviations in the linkage between family and school,teachers’ working hours are lengthened;thirdly,there are many problems in class management,the quality of after-school needs to be improved;the legal responsibilities of after-school trusteeship within the school are not clearly defined;a lack of funds for after-school trusteeship in the school.Second,the main reasons that limit in the development of intra-school can be divided to five types.The first type is that the full-scale implementation of after-school care in Guangzhou has a short period time and is in the exploratory stage;The second types,the nature of the care services is not clear;The third,intra-school have a single source of funding with high management costs;The fourthly,there is a lack of corresponding legal protection;The other type is there is a lack of effective supervision and evaluation systems.Based on the survey,this study raises five pieces of advice on how to improve the quality of after-school services for primary school students.First of all,enrich the curriculum of custody activities of promote the overall development of students;second,strengthen the professional skills training and build a team of high-quality teachers;thirds,develop smart systems and improve after-school service efficiency;fourth,improve the legal system and strengthen standardized management;fifth,broaden the source of funding channels and create a form of home-school sharing.
