China pays more and more attention to the development of children in poverty-stricken areas, and the number of children in poverty-stricken areas is increasing. However,it can not be ignored that children’s social emotional development level is generally low in the current rural poor areas, and there are negative emotions such as inferiority, loneliness, anxiety, anger, and lack of reasonable emotional management methods, which have a great negative impact on children’s physical and mental health growth, social adaptation and interpersonal communication. Therefore, from the perspective of social work,it is necessary to explore how to carry out practical intervention on children’s emotional management in poor areas. In order to help children in poor rural areas develop and improve their emotion management ability, this study carried out a six week group work under the guidance of social information processing theory and emotional intelligence theory from the perspective of social work.By combing the relevant literature at home and abroad, and drawing on previous studies, the author attempts to divide emotion management into four dimensions: emotion recognition, emotion understanding, emotion expression and emotion regulation.Through the analysis of how to achieve the expected effect of emotion management in group activities, the internal logic of the effectiveness of social work practice intervention can be better presented. At the same time, through participatory observation and interview to explore the specific emotional problems and influencing factors of service objects,in order to better understand the current situation of children’s emotional management in poor areas, and provide some reference for the related research of social work intervention. The main findings of this study are as follows: first,m primary school children’s emotions are mainly characterized by prominent negative emotions;emotional behavior polarization is obvious;emotional regulation and emotional cognitive ability are relatively lacking, and negative emotions are mainly dealt with through aggressive behavior or emotional repression;second, family, school and peer groups become the main factors affecting children’s emotional development,Third, practical courses can better improve the ability of children’s emotion understanding and emotion regulation in poor areas, and children’s own emotional experience and emotional intensity run through the whole process of information processing;fourth, the use of techniques such as encouragement, self disclosure, games and role play has a good effect on group activities effect. The cultivation and improvement of emotion management is a long-term process. This intervention lacks a certain degree of continuity and follow-up visit, and does not fully excavate the family resources of typical cases in the process of practical intervention and carry out corresponding case intervention. This is also the deficiency of this study, which needs further exploration.
