The Development Of Children's Emotion Management Ability:A Practical Research Involved Group Work

Emotion management has been generally regarded as one of the most important object in the discipline research.According to the perceptions related to development and prevention,focus on children who are developing the ability of emotion management not only can help them to form positive attitudes and behaviors but also provide a basis to develop an ability due to different emotion controls.Based on the sociological theory and ABC personality theory,current research adopt a practical social group work and elect 7 to 12 years old children in a community to provide specific social services to the children who show a poor ability on emotion management.Firstly,researcher tries to know the conditions in the target community through an observation and questionnaire and then assess their demand of emotion managing.Considering a specific view of social working,researcher then adopts teamwork as a moderator and way to get involved and implement the intervention of social group work through an assessment and plan towards objects as well as record and analysis their working process.Finally,the process and result of social group work is assessed and then researcher proceed a reflection and experience conclusion associated with their working process.As the group evaluation shows,the professional skills application which includ modeling and demonstration,differentiation and connection,supportion and catalysis can accelerate group process.Participation of group members continuously increase along with the group development,which is beneficial to achieve the goal of team.According to the results of assessment,group members learned more knowledge of emotion and skill related to emotional expression,emotional release and regulation.It indicates that the goal of group work has been achieved.Furthermore,the emotion management ability of children is periodic and plastic.It has the characteristics of strong operability,high learning validity and training effectiveness when group work involves in children's emotion management.The guidance of professional social workers in social work theory which applied the group work towards the low ability of children's emotion management,can improve their ability in a certain extent.
