The development of the Internet in rural areas and the popularization of mobile terminals have profoundly affected the social and economic patterns of rural areas at the macro level, and profoundly changed the production and lifestyles of rural laborers at the micro level. As the main economic activity subject in the social and economic development of rural areas, the rural labor force has always been an important issue affecting the development of the country’s "agriculture, rural areas and farmers".Since the reform and opening up,with the continuous advancement of the country’s industrialization and urbanization, the long-term large-scale flow of rural labor force and non-agricultural employment have become the most important way to increase farmers’ income. In the context of the country’s implementation of the “Internet + Sannong” and digital rural development strategy,in-depth exploration of the impact and difference of Internet use on the non-agricultural employment and income of rural laborers with different characteristics, which provides a deep understanding of the development of the Internet in promoting rural labor’s non-agricultural employment selection The important role of the Internet, and the government’s implementation of a more active rural Internet development policy is of great significance.First of all, this article analyzes the impact of Internet use on non-agricultural employment and income of rural laborers from a theoretical perspective based on information asymmetry theory, career search theory, farmer behavior theory, information economy theory, and labor mobility theory based on relevant domestic and foreign literature.Impact mechanism.Secondly, using the 2018 China Family Tracking Survey(CFPS)data to analyze the current status of rural labor’s Internet use,non-agricultural employment status and corresponding non-agricultural income status.Empirical analysis was carried out again. One is to construct Probit,OLS,and quantile(QR)models to empirically analyze and test the effects of Internet use(whether or not to go online, study online, socialize online, and work online)on the employment category of rural labor force,non-agricultural The impact of employment forms and non-agricultural income levels;the second is to use the PSM method to examine and alleviate the "self-selection" endogenous problems that may arise from Internet use;the third is to use the Fields decomposition method to analyze the impact of Internet use on the non-agricultural income gap.The main research conclusions are as follows: First,Internet use, online social networking, and online work can all increase the non-agricultural employment probability of rural laborers, while online learning has no significant correlation with non-agricultural employment;among them, compared with non-agricultural employment,Internet use and online social networking have more obvious effects on the increase of nonagricultural self-employment employment rate.Second, the use of the Internet has a more significant role in promoting non-agricultural employment for male rural laborers, highly educated rural laborers, and rural laborers in the eastern and central regions. At the same time, the use of the Internet can create non-agricultural self-employment opportunities for full-time housewives.Third, the use of the Internet can significantly increase the nonagricultural income of rural laborers, and different uses of the Internet have different effects on increasing different types of non-agricultural income.Socializing on the Internet is more effective in increasing non-agricultural operating income, while working online helps Increase wage income;while online learning has no significant correlation with non-agricultural income levels.Fourth, the use of the Internet has widened the nonagricultural income gap,of which the largest contribution to the expansion of the nonagricultural operating income gap. Moreover, among different income groups, the use of the Internet has a greater effect on the income of high-income groups than middle-and low-income groups, widening the income gap.At the same time, the economic benefits of the use of the Internet for rural labor in the eastern and central regions are far greater than those in the western regions, which has exacerbated the regional income gap.
