Purposes: By collecting kinematic and dynamic data during the process of movement on yoga mats made with various materials,exploration of the influence on both the human body biomechanical characteristics and athletic performance due to the variation of the materials of the yuga mat was made.The purpose was to find the influences due to the variation of materials forming the yoga mats on the athletic performance and human body biomechanical characteristics of the subjects.At the same time provide reasonable suggestions on suitable materials for yoga mats for public with habit of practicing yoga and body fitness.Methods: The subjects were 15 female college students without yoga practice experience in Nanjing University of Physical Education.The materials of 4 yoga mats were PVC,PU+NR,TPE and NB.C type Shore hardness was used to measure the hardness of yoga mat of different materials.Infrared high-speed motion capture system(Vicon,100Hz)and the three-dimensional force measuring platform(Kistler,1000Hz)were used to collect the kinematics and dynamics data of subjects in the process of Vrksasana,Natarajasana,CMJ vertical jump in situ and Adho Mukha Svanasana on the yoga mat of different materials.Results: During the mechanical test for hardness,according to the material hardness can be sorted as: PU+NR mat > TPE mat >PVC mat > NBR mat.In terms of kinematics and dynamics,the COP swing trajectory length and COP average swing rate of PU+NR mat are significantly smaller than those of PVC mat and TPE mat.The COP swing amplitude of PVC mat was significantly larger than that of the other three materials.The peak value of ground reaction force and loading rate of TPE mat are significantly higher than those of PU+NR mat and NBR mat.There is no significant difference between the body’s impulse and the height of vertical jump at the stage of vertical jump.There was no significant difference in the maximum flexion angle of lower limb joints during vertical jump in situ.Conclusion: 1.The hardness of yoga mats made of different materials varies.2.COP related parameters of yoga mats made of different materials will not be more stable with the increase of hardness.Yoga mats made of PU+NR(high hardness)and NBR(low hardness)can better help the human body to maintain stability,while yoga mats made of TPE(medium and high hardness)and PVC(medium and low hardness)have obvious lack of stability.3.The peak ground reaction force,vertical loading rate and lower limb motion of yoga mat made of different materials won’t increase with the increase of hardness,PU + NR(high hardness)and NBR(low hardness)material yoga mat can better serve the purpose of cushioning the impact to achieve shock absorption,TPE(medium and high hardness)and PVC(low and middle hardness)material yoga mat have low shock absorption ability.4.The upward impulse and vertical jump height given to the human body by the yoga mat of different materials will not be enhanced with the increase of hardness.The yoga mat of different materials has no significant influence on the human body’s sports performance.5.PU+NR(high hardness)and TPE(medium and high hardness)material yoga mat anti-skid effect is good,PVC(medium and low hardness)and NBR(low hardness)material yoga mat anti-skid performance is weak.
