| American community colleges have played an important role in the history of American higher education and played an important role in the social and economic development of the United States.With the development of the times,the disadvantages of the traditional education model of community colleges are gradually highlighted.In addition to the increase in the demand for high-skilled labor in the new era,community colleges began to carry out changes in order to improve the teaching quality.The implementation of the "Guided Pathway" Project is one of the highlights of the reform in the new era.Higher vocational education is an important part of education system in China.With the continuous expansion of higher vocational education in recent years,improving the quality of higher vocational education has become one of the concerns of education.In the paper,the author explains the background and theoretical basis of project implementation,analyzes the content and progress of project implementation,and sums up its effectiveness and implementation challenges.By studying the "Guided Pathway" Project,the author aims to discuss the enlightenment to the development of higher vocational education in China.This paper mainly uses literature research and comparative research to study the "Guided Pathway" Project of American Community Colleges.In the context of the continuous improvement of labor force skills in social development and the inability of the current Community College education model to meet the market demand,the American Community College Association has set up a "Guided Pathway" Project to improve the quality of Community Colleges.This project consists of four major areas: Mapping pathway to student end goals;Helping students choose and enter a program pathway;Keeping students on path;Ensuring that students are learning.Through analyzing the implementation of the "Guided Pathway" Project carried out by the pilot colleges,sum up the practical path of the project,and analyze the effectiveness and challenges of the "Guided Pathway" Project implementation.Although the implementation time of the project is still short,its effectiveness is obvious to all.There are still institutional,conceptual and technical challenges in the implementation of the project.Finally,it summarizes the enlightenment of the "Guided Pathway" Project to the development of higher vocational education in China:The first is to help colleges and universities reform with the help of professional educational and research institutions;The second is to deepen the teaching reform and improve the teaching quality;The third is to strengthen academic guidance and develop a clear,personalized student career planning;The fourth is to improve the participation of faculty and students,and improve the school service system;The fifth is to link the development path of secondary vocational,higher vocational and undergraduate courses.Through a series of measures to improve the enthusiasm and initiative of students and the teaching quality of higher vocational colleges,higher vocational education can play a greater potential. |
