The Research On The Development Strategy Of British Entrepreneurial Universities

As the engine and "service station" for social development,universities have become increasingly important in promoting regional economic development and enhancing the nation’s comprehensive strength.However,under the influence of factors such as the knowledge economy,national macro-policy adjustment,and the popularization of higher education,the traditional model of university development has not be able to keep up with the development of the times.The role and function of universities need to be changed urgently.Entrepreneurial universities which first emerged in Europe and the United States,are university development model that organically integrates knowledge and economy.The emergence of entrepreneurial universities is not only a positive response to the construction of innovative country in the knowledge-based society,but also a practice to promote comprehensive reform of higher education and improve the modern university system.In recent years,China has implemented the strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education and the strategy of innovation-driven development.The transition to entrepreneurial universities have also become the way for many universities in China to upgrad into first-class universities.This research adopts the literature research method,historical analysis method,comparative research method,case analysis method,and takes the "UK Entrepreneurship University Development Strategy" as an analysis element.It discusses related theories of entrepreneurial universities,reviews the emergence and development of UK entrepreneurial universities,analyes the important measures taken by traditional teaching universities and research universities in UK in the process of transforming into entrepreneurial universities.Finally,it summarizes the characteristics of the development of entrepreneurial universities in UK,and provides reference for the development of entrepreneurial universities in China by combining the national conditions and the development status of universities.Firstly,starting from the research reason,this thesis expounds the significance of this study,research status,research content,research methods,and puts forward some innovative points and limitations.Secondly,it clearly defines the core concepts,including entrepreneurial university and entrepreneurship education,and discussed the relevant theory research,including Triple Helix Theory,Academic Capitalism Theory and Resource Dependency Theory,whcih provides clear theoretical perspective for the next deeper discusstion.Thirdly,this thesis explores the background of entrepreneurial university development,and combs the development course of British entrepreneurial universities from the perspective of history to provide macro ideas for future research.The third chapter is the focus of this study,it analyzes the specific measures of the development of British entrepreneurial universities from three aspects which are management mode,entrepreneurship education and funding source.Finally,it summarizes the characteristic of entrepreneurial university.Taking it as a reference,combining with the current situation and problems of the development of Chinese universities,the thesis puts forward the reform measures to promote the entrepreneurial transformation of Chinese universities.
