| As an important index to measure the physical and mental health of adolescents,the social adaptation plays an important role in the growth of adolescents.This study explores the influence of parental psychological control on the social adaptation of middle school students from the perspective of parenting styles,taking the middle school students as there search samples,and using the compiled parental psychological control scale,self-esteem scale and adolescent social adaptation scale to investigate middle school students.The main research purpose is to investigate the effects of parental psychological control on social adaptation of middle school students,and intermediary role of self-esteem.So this thesis provides a new idea for understanding the middle school students’ social adaptation,and also provides a feasible research direction for mental health work on the middle school students.The results of this study shows are as follows:(1)On the whole,the parental psychological control of middle school students is at a moderately low level,,dominated by the dimension of power,high self-esteem,good social adaptation condition,the positive social adaptation is at a relatively high level while low level of the negative social adaptation.(2)The parental psychological control of middle school students shows significant difference in gender,showing that boys are higher than girls.The parental psychological control in single-parent families are significantly higher than that in two-parent families.The psychological control of parents of middle school students has significant differences in grades.With the increase of grades,the level of psychological control of parents shows a downward trend.The psychological control of middle school students shows a significant difference in mothers’ educational level.Compared to mothers who have high school or university background,mothers’ psychological control level who have junior college and junior high school background is greatly lower.(3)The self-esteem of middle school students shows significant differences in the birthplaces,left-behind children,grades and the educational level of fathers.The self-esteem of middle school students from urban areas is higher than that of rural areas.The non-left-behind children’ self-esteem is higher than that of left-behind children.With the increase of grades,the level of self-esteem shows a rising trend.The self-esteem of middle school students shows a significant difference in fathers’ educational level.The self-esteem of middle school students whose fathers have junior college and high school background is greatly higher than that of junior high school or university background.(4)There are significant differences in the positive social adaptation of middle school students in the birthplaces,which is that the positive social adaptation level of middle school students from urban areas is significantly higher than that of rural areas.The negative social adaptation of middle school students showed significant differences in grades.The negative social adaptation showed a downward trend with the growth of grades.The negative social adaptation of middle school students shows a significant difference in fathers’ educational level.The negative social adaptation of middle school students whose fathers have junior college and high school background is greatly lower than that of junior high school or university background.(5)There are significant correlations between parental psychological control,self-esteem and social adaptation.The parental psychological control is significantly negatively related to self-esteem and significantly positively related to negative social adaptation,and self-esteem is significantly negatively related to negative social adaptation.(6)The self-esteem plays a mediating role in parental psychological control and negative social adaptation. |
