| The study aims to explore the relationship between the Maladaptive traits of borderline personality and suicide ideation and suicide attempt among Chinese undergraduates from the dimensional perspective of the Five-Factor model of personality. The study first examines the reliability and validity of the Five-Factor Borderline Inventory-Short Form(FFBI-SF)in a sample of Chinese undergraduates.A sample of 942 undergraduates were administrated the revised Five-Factor Borderline Inventory-Short Form(FFBI-SF).Eysenck Personality Questionnaire,Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire Borderline Personality Disorder Subscale,Symptom Checklist 90 and Barratt Impulsiveness Scale were chosen as the criterion-related indicators.Second, the predict effect of borderline personality toward suicide ideation and suicide attempt was explored.A sample of 835 undergraduates were administrated the revised Five-Factor Borderline Inventory-Short Form(FFBI-SF),Suicide ideation screening questionnaire and suicide attempt screening questionnaire. Then the sample were divided into normal subgroup, suicidal ideation subgroup and suicide attempt subgroup. The Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the predict effect of total score and different dimensions of borderline personality on suicidal ideation and suicide attempt.SPSS22.0 and Lisrel 8.70 were used to analyze the data. The results are as follows:1.The Five-Factor Borderline Inventory-Short Form-Chinese version(FFBI-SF-CV)is a reliable and valid instrument to measure the level of borderline personality traits.2.The suicide ideation subgroup and suicide attempt subgroup reported higher level of borderline personality than normal subgroup. The suicide attempt subgroup reported higher level of borderline personality than suicide ideation subgroup.3.Compared to the normal subgroup, despondence and dysregulated anger significantly predicted suicide ideation, despondence and manipulativeness significantly predicted suicide attempt.Compared to the suicidal ideation subgroup, despondence and affective dysregulation significantly predicted suicide attempt. |
