Abstract/Summary:
In the new media age,any event will be the focus to arouse widespread public concern under the magnifier action of the Internet,however,the occurrence of public health emergencies are more directly related to individual survival safety,which will arouse public panic and shock of public opinion inevitably.Wuhan is the first city to suffer the novel coronavirus and the first lockdown city in China,which is a central battlefield for China to fight the epidemic.As China’s important mainstream medium,research on public opinion guidance of public health emergencies of Wechat,Weibo and News Client of People’s Daily on the new media platform can provide reference and guidance suggestions for public opinion guidance of mainstream media in China.Therefore,in this paper,COVID-19 outbreak in Wuhan was selected as a research case,public opinion propagation on COVID-19 outbreak in Wuhan of Wechat,Weibo and News Client of People’s Daily was studied,360 microblogs(including 57 reprinted posts),1793365 microblog comments,99 official account articles(including 56 reprinted articles),1377 official account comments,50 news reports(including 24 reprinted news)in News Client(not including We-Media articles in local channel and PDNews),and 2279 News Client comments were manually screened.And the acquired data were encoded and organized into a core information architecture containing publisher,publication time,text,forwarded number,number of comments and likes.SPSS software was utilized to carry out basic statistical analysis,the dominant framework was constructed by sample reading.Through text analysis,emotional tendencies were better grasped.Combined with word frequency analysis,the report trend within a certain period of time was analyzed;audiences’ comments were observed,audiences’ public opinion cognition,behavior influence and interaction of Wechat,Weibo and News Client of People’s Daily were analyzed,and through discourse logic,three characters that emotional rendering highlights patriotism,popular sentiments and mission enhance party identification,participation in public affairs with equal right of speech were found,which was taken as an entry point to analyze the challenges faced by public opinion guidance of public health emergencies of Wechat,Weibo and News Client of People’s Daily on the new media platform such as environmentalization of public opinion environment,weaker controllability of public opinion guidance,increased frequency of online public opinion’s rising to ideological debate,and the role evolution from ‘Party’s mouthpiece’ to ‘watchman of social responsibility’.
